One of the new AI models is Meta Chameleon, which provides 34B and 7B language models that support text-only outputs and mixed-modal input. Furthermore, Meta Multi-Token Prediction is a pre-trained language model with multi-token prediction for code completion. Another recent release is Meta JASCO, a generative text-to-music model with more controllability that takes in different conditioning inputs.In addition to these models, Meta is making available more Responsible AI (RAI) artifacts, such as studies, data, and code, with the goal of evaluating and enhancing how well geographic and cultural preferences are represented.

The three-day Management Education and Research Colloquium (MERC), a scholars’ conclave, came to an end on Sunday at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (IIM Kashipur).For the 4th edition of MERC at IIM Kashipur, 300 papers were selected from 720 entries for the final round. Following evaluation, Somnath Chakrabarti, academic dean and MERC convenor at IIM Kashipur, awarded certificates and cash prizes worth Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000, and Rs 15,000 to the first three winners.

The Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will get US$ 5 million (about INR 41 crore) in assistance for research thanks to the Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, a Canadian financial company founded by IIT Madras alumni Prem Watsa. A high-throughput histology pipeline created by the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre at IIT Madras can turn entire human brains into petabyte-scale, high-resolution digital images. These distinct, first-in-class datasets of different human brains provide an unparalleled, detailed perspective at the cellular level throughout the whole brain, according to the official press release.

Following the UGC’s approval of biannual admissions. It was declared yesterday by UGC chairman Jagadesh Kumar that admission to Indian universities can henceforth be offered twice a year. According to TG Sitharam, chairman of the AICTE, universities are prohibited from holding two academic sessions in a year by the “no clause in UGC rules.” The statutory authority emphasized the necessity and potential for approving a college to offer admission twice in this regard.

A major new partnership that will train the next generation of scientists specialising in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to promote sustainable agriculture has received a £10.6 million funding boost. The SUSTAIN Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) received the award from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) as part of a £117 million package for AI research. The partnership involving the universities of Aberdeen, Lincoln, Strathclyde and Queens University Belfast aims to transform the UK agri-food sector’s approach to sustainability while ensuring that everyone in the UK has access to food that is nutritious, delicious, affordable, and safe.

The University Grants Commission has revised the rates of fellowship amount under the UGC fellowship schemes. Check the new amount of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and the Senior Research Fellowship (SRF). The selection for the award of fellowship to students will be made on the basis of the merit of each UGC NET JRF or CSIR NET JRF examination.

Faculty and research scholars in the NC State College of Education, including the Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research and the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, were awarded $42,138,265 in external funding to support 66 projects in the 2022-23 academic year, setting a new record for total dollar amount awarded in a single year. Funding awarded during the 2022-23 fiscal year brings the total amount of external research funding within the college to over $119 million that is supporting 175 active projects.

Fujitsu announced a new technology for automated generation of AI solutions, offering users the possibility to customize AI innovation components  offered via the “Fujitsu Kozuchi (code name) – Fujitsu AI Platform.” Fujitsu will start offering the new technology via Fujitsu Kozuchi to users in Japan by December 2023 and plans to roll out services to the global market in the future. The new technology represents part of Fujitsu’s framework for Composite AI for solving customers’ increasingly complex problems by combining different AI innovation components including for functions like demand forecasting and production scheduling.

A total of 58 current and former faculty of Missouri S&T are among the top researchers in their field as measured by their career research records, and 72 current or former Missouri S&T researchers were among the best in their fields in 2022, according to a recent analysis of standardized citation indicators of the Elsevier Data Repository published by Stanford University. In response to a surge in generative artificial intelligence (AI), NVIDIA made significant updates to its Jetson platform for edge AI and robotics. The updates focus on the Isaac Robot Operating System (ROS) framework and Metropolis, two primary components of the platform. This will enable advanced research on artificial humanoid control at a fraction of the to compute resources currently required. MoCap is an animation technique widely used in the entertainment industry for decades. It involves recording the motion of several keypoints on a human actor’s body, such as their elbows, shoulders, and knees, while the actor is performing a task of interest, such as jogging.
