In July 2025, the US Navy successfully deployed Barracuda, an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) capable of locating, scanning, and neutralizing sea mines without human tethering. Developed by defense researchers for maritime security, Barracuda represents a major milestone in underwater robotics and autonomous systems. In real-world trials in Narragansett Bay, Barracuda performed complex maneuvers, identified submerged threats, and safely disabled mock mines without external commands—demonstrating fully independent decision-making in open water.

Researchers from the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and doctors from the urology clinic at the University of Mannheim have developed and tested a knowledge-based communication. With the strength of other language models and the accuracy of experienced urologists, “UroBot” was able to answer specific urological exam questions with high accuracy.
Oct 16, 2024 Researchers Professor Yang Min-sung from the Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) unveiled a vision system inspired by a cat’s eye to improve object recognition under different lighting conditions. With its unique shape and reflective surface, this system reduces glare in bright environments and increases visibility in low-light situations. By filtering out unnecessary information, this technology significantly improves the performance of single-lens cameras, representing a major advance in robotic vision.
